Directions
From the south: From the A1 take the A64 towards York. Take the A1237 northern York bypass to the B1363 Helmsley Road. At Oswaldkirk turn left and the entrance to the St Alban Centre is approximately two miles ahead on the left.
From the north: At Thirsk take the A170 towards Scarborough. Climb up Sutton Bank and turn right to either Wass or Oswaldkirk, both of which lead to Ampleforth.
In bad weather: It is wise to avoid Sutton Bank. To do so travel south from Thirsk on the A19 to the Coxwold exit. Turn left and go past Thirkleby and Carlton Husthwaite to Coxwold. Turn left at Coxwold to Byland. Drive past Byland Abbey to Wass and there turn right to Ampleforth.
